BOTOX

What is Botox?

Since its clearance by the FDA in 2002 for cosmetic use, botox injections have shown its safety and effectiveness and have become the single most popular non-surgical, cosmetic procedure in the United States. BOTOX is a natural, purified protein that relaxes muscles. Botox is a toxin, but it's extremely safe because it's used in such small amounts and is not spread throughout the body. Only the injected muscle is affected by botox which causes temporary paralysis of the face muscles that pull the skin into frowns or squints and crease the skin.

It can be used to reduce forehead wrinkles and lines, contour & slim the face and body, lift & shape the brow, reduce sweating, tighten pores and improve oily skin.

Wrinkles & Lines

The lines that appear between your brows, forehead, around the eyes and neck are actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. Underneath your skin, your facial muscles contract, cause a pleating of the overlying skin. After years of crinkling and wrinkling, lines and ceases start to linger longer and can become more pronounced and even permanent. For women, whose faces tend to be more animated than men's, and whose skin is typically more delicate, these lines may appear exaggerated and more permanent. Treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can visibly smooth and soften moderate to severe frown lines between on your face and neck. It does not 'freeze' your face but merely decrease and soften the lines. An improvement can be seen within days and may last up to 4-6 months, although results may vary.

BrowLift

As people age, many times they suffer from a lowering of their brow position. This can contribute to a "tired" appearance A forehead lift or "browlift" is used to correct a drooping browline (eyebrow area) and create a refreshed, youthful appearance to the forehead area above the eyes.

EyeBrow Shaping: Achieve the perfect brow

Eyebrow shaping can also be performed with BOTOX®. Brows can shaped by selectively relaxing certain muscles to create a more attractive and ideal brow shape. A gentle arch produces an attractive appearance to the brow and is a standard of beauty for women. On men, a more horizontal brow is considered masculine. Arched, flared brow and horizontal brows can also be shaped accordingly to flatter and enhance facial features.

Botox for Facial & Body Contouring & Slimming

A square jaw or thick calf muscles on the legs re both masculine and unflattering for most women. This is a result of a muscle hypertrophy over the jaw line or the calf muscle. Botox has been used successfully to contour and slim the lower face by correcting the muscle hypertrophy over the jaw and creating a slim jaw and a flattering oval shape face. It can also be used over the calf muscle to create a slimmer calf muscle and a slimmer leg contour. The result will last for 6-12 months and after a second treatment will result in a decrease in muscle mass over the jaw and less frequent treatment.

Excessive sweating

BOTOX® is FDA-approved for the treatment of severe underarm sweating that is not adequately managed with topical agents. Severe underarm sweating is a medical condition known as severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis, which involves overactive sweat glands Sweat glands when activated by nerve impulses produce sweat. By injecting BOTOX into problem areas such as underarms, hands and feet, nerve impulse is temporarily prevented from reaching the sweat gland. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops. Decrease in sweating is seen 2-3 days after treatment and may be repeted every 6-12 months.

MicroBotox (MesoBotox) & Mesolift

This is a newer application of BOTOX whereby a diluted dose of BOTOX is injected into the more superficial layer of the skin along the jaw line and on areas with large open pores. The effect is excellent to diminish fine facial wrinkles without muscle paralysis and for reducing open pores and oil production while giving the face a 'lift', firmer texture and a healthy glow. This treatment is excellent for rejuvenating the rest of face after botox treatment for the major frown lines and wrinkles.

How Botox Works

BOTOX is a quick procedure with no downtime designed to restore freshness, youth and beauty to faces that have been damaged by sun and aging over time.It will not "freeze" your facial expressions. It softens them and keep them relax for up to 6 months or so. It is seen that after four or five sessions of injection, the muscles are permanently relaxed.

Nerve impulse triggers the release of acetylcholine at nerve endings which causes muscles to contract, activate sweat glands and sebaceaous glands (oil glands). Release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction causes contraction of facial muscles, which over time can cause wrinkles to form. Excessive swaeating and oily skin can also benefit from Boto injections.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is effective in reducing this activity. As it enters the nerve ending... BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks the release of acetylcholine, reducing the activity of muscles.

What happens during Botox treatment?
During Treatment

The patient is asked to contract the muscles in the area being treated to determine the proper location for injection. In most cases, BTX is injected directly into the muscle with a tiny needle. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. It takes a few days to realize the effect of BTX injections.
