How does laser hair reduction work?
Laser hair removal is a gentle process. During the treatment, a high energy beam of light goes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. Heat generated by the laser will destroy the hair follicles which ultimately limit future hair growth in the treated area.

Laser hair removal can be done on almost every part of the body. Nevetheless, the common areas which are generally treated are the underarms, arms, necks, legs and even the upper lips.
Is it a safe treatment?
With regards to treatment methods for the removal of excess human body hair, laser hair removal treatment is generally deemed to be safe and reliable. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as well as other relevant authorities all over the world recognize the safety and effectiveness of laser hair removal treatments.
Based on extensive clinical research, laser hair removal treatment only destroys the ability of the hair to grow but does not affect the normal functions of the surrounding skin tissues. This makes laser treatments a popular, safe and effective hair removal method.

The laser will be custom set to suit your skin and hair follicles while getting the best possible results out of every treatment. With proper supervision, laser hair removal is totally safe and there is extremely low risk of complications.
Can hair growth be permanently reduced in just one session?
Typically 4-6 sessions of the laser treatment are required for permanent hair reduction. In order to know how the treatment works we have to understand the growth cycle of the hair.

Hair grows differently, depending on age, weight, metabolism, hormones, ethnicity, medications, and other factors. However, there are three stages during the growth cycle:
Active Growth Stage
This stage can last up to several years. At any given time, the majority (85%) of our body hair is in this phase. During this stage, the hair has an abundance of melanin. When melanin is exposed to the laser energy during the treatment, the hair follicle is effectively destroyed, hence achieving the aim of hair removal.
Regression Stage
This stage lasts about two weeks, during which the hair stops growing but is not yet shed. About 3 - 4% of our body hair is in this phase at any given time.
Resting Stage
This stage lasts 5 - 6 weeks, at the end of which the hair falls out and a new hair begins to form. Approximately 10-13% of our body hair is in this phase at any one time.
During the regression and resting phase, there is little or no melanin at all in the hair root and bulb. Therefore any laser treatment during this period will have little or no effect on the hair follicles. Because all the hair in a treated area may not be in the active growth stage, more than one treatment may be necessary to remove the hair that subsequently enters the growth phase.
